Lacey A. Locke      Associate

Lacey A. Locke concentrates her practice in medical malpractice defense including the representation of physicians and hospitals in complex matters. She also handles premises liability, general negligence, labor and employment, and long-term care cases.

 

Lacey handles all aspects of the litigation process, from pre-suit investigations and analysis, up to and including trials and post-trial motions. Lacey prides herself on being a positive and empathic counselor to clients. Her strong work ethic and attention to detail make her a forceful advocate.

 

Prior to joining SBH, Lacey clerked at various law firms and externed in-house at a nationally ranked healthcare system in Chicago.

 

Lacey earned her Juris Doctor with a concentration in Trial Advocacy & Dispute Resolution from UIC School of Law. While attending, Lacey served as President of the Student Bar Association and as an Associate Barrister of the Trial Advocacy Honors Board. Lacey was a national qualifier in the ABA Mediation Competition, a UIC Trifecta Trial Competition champion, and was named to the Order of Barristers upon graduation. Lacey received two top-grade awards, was on the Dean’s List, served as a Teaching Assistant for Appellate Advocacy, was a Student Ambassador for the Office of Admissions, and was a Student Attorney for UIC’s Pro Bono Litigation Clinic. 

 

Lacey was awarded the 2020-2021 UIC John Marshall Spirit of Excellence Award for her leadership and contributions to the law school and the UIC Chancellor’s Student Service Award for her contributions to the UIC system at large. Lacey is a proud and involved alumna.

 

Lacey earned her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University. She was a four-year Division I swimmer and 2-time team captain for the Wildcats. Lacey is an avid Wildcats fan and loves visiting Evanston!
