On May 20, Greta Powell a Partner at SBH LLC was an honoree at UIC Law’s 46th Annual Freedom & Distinguished Service Awards Ceremony. The annual Freedom & Distinguished Service Awards Reception, one of the alumni community’s signature events, honors alumni and members of the legal profession who uphold the highest standards upon which civil society stands. This event is held to provide alumni members a forum to recognize significant contributions to society and celebrate the achievements of their fellow graduates.
“The first Rising Star Award was presented to Gretchen “Greta” Powell (JD 2012), a Partner at Smith Blake Hill, whose practice focuses on the representation of hospitals, physicians, and nurses. Ms. Powell is involved in the Chicagoland Healthcare Risk Management Society, the Chicago Bar Association, and the Women’s Bar Association, as well as remaining an active coach in UIC Law’s Trial Advocacy Program. In 2019, she was the recipient of the Jury Verdict Reporter’s Trial Lawyer Excellence Award for Outstanding Defense Verdict in a Medical Malpractice Case.”
