Cassie Vanko

Cassie Vanko is a trial attorney who currently concentrates her practice in the area of civil litigation, concentrating on medical malpractice defense, including representation of physicians, hospitals, and other health care professional and facilities in complex matters.

Cassie earned her Juris Doctor from UIC Law School.  While attending, Cassie was placed on the Dean's List for consecutive semesters and volunteered her time as a Student Ambassador for incoming students.  Prior to attending law school, Cassie earned her Bachelor's degree in Economics with a minor in Political Science from Northern Illinois University. 

 

Before joining Smith Blake Hill, Cassie concentrated on criminal defense, where she successfully defended her clients in all matters from those charged with general traffic to clients facing multiple felony charges.  Cassie prides herself on her ability to fiercely advocate for her clients while maintaining empathy for all parties involved.

 

Prior to focusing on criminal defense, Cassie also served as an Assistant State's Attorney at the Cook County State's Attorney's office, where she successfully prosecuted both felony and misdemeanor cases.  Her previous experience as both a prosecutor and private defense counsel gives her a unique, well-rounded perspective to analyzing cases, which allows her to fully develop complex strategies.
