SBH Attorneys Mark Smith and Caroline Keig successfully defended a cardiologist against claims arising from the death of a 77 year old female. Plaintiff alleged all Defendants failed to respond appropriately to the patient’s bleeding following an arterial puncture, leading to the patient’s death after a one month hospitalization. Plaintiff asked for $6,000,000 - $7,750,000, but the jury returned a defense verdict. The case was tried in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois from August 19, 2019 – September 11, 2019.
