SBH attorneys Tom Hill and Kim Flanigan successfully defended an emergency room physician and her group arising from the death of a 57 year old man. Plaintiff alleged the defendants failed to recommend hospital admission after he presented to the emergency department with severely elevated blood pressure along with a history of untreated chronic blood pressure, untreated diabetes and an acute kidney stone. The patient was discharged from the emergency room and died a few hours later. Plaintiff asked the jury to award damages in excess of $4 million. The case was tried in the Circuit Court of Lake County.
